A Legal Entity

Years after Midwest Pagan Community was formed Harold and Maria continued to brainstorm ways to meet their goals in growing the community. In this process, Maria continued her education of metaphysical studies and had became a minister. Then an idea came across her mind and in May of 2022 the idea of forming as a legal entity was dreamt up. This process was a bit lengthy and a decision had to be made as to the type of organization we would be. Although separation between state and church does exists, when it comes to becoming a non profit organization and gaining certain rights and legalities we had to carefully select our type of organization. We had a goal to unite the community, provide people with spiritual resources that can be harder to get, such as us who come from a small town in Missouri. With consideration, we filed for our legal name under the church status. With this filing status, and only with this filing could we ordain our community for religious work of their choosing. We are also allotted certain filing and legal rights beneficial to the group. The word church in this case is only seen as a legal religious filing with the IRS and State. Used in this way is not secular to the Christian faith.

In preparing for filing, we came together and formed our board of directors and officers. A bylaw was created and our Articles of Incorporation sent in to Missouri. On September 6th. 2022, we officially became a legal church entity.
